Dean McDonald

Dean Howard McDonald passed away on June 5, 2017 at the age of 94 at New Albany Gardens and Care Center. Preceded in death by his wife Gladys McElwee McDonald in 1995; his parents Arthur Frank McDonald and Estella Bachman McDonald; brother Eugene A. McDonald. He is survived by his daughter Donna McDonald (Kim Minor), Blacklick, OH; son Paul (Janice) McDonald, Columbus, OH; grandson Andrew T. McDonald. Dean was born and raised in Columbus, OH. Dean was a graduate of Central High School. Dean retired after 30 years as a life-underwriter at Nationwide Insurance in Columbus. Dean took his family on yearly vacations with their boat, trailer, and motorcycle, despite having contracted polio at the age of 12. He enjoyed auto-mechanics, target shooting, and "tinkering" on mechanical and electrical projects. A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 10 at SCHOEDINGER NORTH FUNERAL HOME, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus at 10 a.m. with Pastor Ann Palmerton officiating. Friends may call an hour before the ceremony. Burial at Eastlawn Cemetery, Columbus. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dean's memory may be made to the Broad Street Presbyterian Church Food Pantry, 760 E. Broad Street, Columbus, 43205.
