

Dr. Denton Adams, age 88, an Upper Arlington resident, died Saturday, May 15, 2010. He was born in Chicago in 1921. He attended high school in Parkersburg, WV and attended West Virginia University where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He volunteered into the U. S. Navy in July 1942 and served during WWII for three and one half years. Following the war, he attended Marietta College, where he received his pre-medical training. He graduated from The Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1950. He then interned and took a residency in anesthesia at Doctors Hospital, Columbus, OH. He practiced anesthesia and family medicine for forty three years in Columbus. While at Doctors Hospital, he served as President of the Medical Staff; Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia; a member of the Doctors Hospital Board of Trustees; and a member of Doctors Hospital Foundation. Also, he served as President of the Academy of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a member of the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, a member of University Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Mason, as well as a lifetime member of Scioto Country Club. He is preceded in death by his son Ty Adams and sister Hope Barnett. He is survived by Carol Leist Adams (formerly of Circleville) his loving wife of fifty eight years, children Tovie Adams Dewey, Kristan (Jim) Adams Anderson, Todd (Rhonda) Adams and Amy (Charles) Adams Deibel. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren K.C. Dewey, Sam Dewey, Joe Dewey, Brooke Adams, Nichole Adams, Ben Anderson, Jonathon Anderson, Mark and Susan Anderson, Sarah Anderson, Nick Adams, Jennifer Adams, Mason Deibel, Annie Deibel and Jane Deibel. A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Rd.
