

Dickie Lee McCoy, age 67, passed away on January 23, 2021 at Licking Memorial Hospital. Dick was born on July 24, 1953 to the late Orville and Alma (Smith) McCoy in Columbus, Ohio. Dick graduated from Big Walnut High School in 1972. He then went on to proudly serve his county in the United States Navy, where he served in the Vietnam War. Throughout his life, Dick was a friend to everyone that he met. He created unforgettable memories and loved to make people laugh. He could always find light in the darkest of moments. He also found joy in many things. At a young age, Dick discovered his love for music. He began learning to play the saxophone and soon after learned that he could play just about any instrument he picked up. He could pick a guitar, banjo, or mandolin with precision and give life to any tune. He loved to play any instrument he could get his hands on. He also enjoyed the art of the deal and spent much of his life buying and selling treasures that he managed to find everywhere he went. Late in life, he began wood working and developed a love for fine cars. He was a man who lived life to the fullest and followed his dreams and aspirations whole heartedly. He walked through life to his own beat and created smiles before moving on. His laughter and vibrance will be missed by many. Along with his parents, Dick was preceded in death by the love of his life, Linda (Rhoades). He is survived by his sister, Tonia; nephew, Scott; and niece, Tracey. He is also survived by his children, Brandy, Christa, Chrissy, and Phillip, who gave him wonderful grandchildren. A final visit may be made on Friday, January 29, 2021 from 10:30am-12:30pm at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST, 1051 Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230, where Funeral Service will follow promptly at 12:30pm. A livestream of the service will be available on this page. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending. Procession to Mifflin Cemetery, 218 Agler Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43230 for interment.
