

Donald Franklin Smark, age 82, of Whitehall, died March 14, 2014 at his home. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps. He retired from North American Aviation, as well as from Anheuser-Busch. Don was very “mechanically inclined” and worked on everything – cars, computers, lawn mowers, televisions, and bicycles to name a few. In retirement he operated his own business, Custom Office Vending, for many years. Don enjoyed food and people and loved to be outdoors. He loved his family, including their Siberian Huskies. He is survived by his wife, Linda Smark; children, Michael (Peg) Smark of Columbus, Diane VanGumster of Midlothian, VA, Danny Smark of Columbus, Toni (Mike) Fredericks of Nova Scotia (Canada), Steven Smark of Elfrida, AZ, Dominic (Patty) Nelson of Galloway, Eric Nelson of Galloway, Dawn (Gene Sites, III) Smark of Canal Winchester, and Elizabeth (James Foit) Smark of Canal Winchester; grandchildren, Jason, Byron, Dana, Joseph, Chris, Jessica, Andrew, Richard, Dannielle, Faith, Alex, Chase, and Garret. A celebration of his life will be held from 2-4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014 in the Fellowship Hall of Franklin United Brethren Church, 7171 Central College Road, New Albany, OH 43054.
