Donald Otho "Toots" Tootle, age 78, died December 28, 2020. He valiantly fought off and recovered from encephalitis in 2019 but died due to complications from COVID-19. When the doctors told his children that he was a sick man, they responded, "you have no idea." He was born on March 28, 1942, to Joseph and Mildred Tootle in Frankfort, Ohio. He married Barbara Schartz on September 25, 1965 and was married for 51 years. He graduated from Unioto High School in 1960 and attended the Ohio State University graduating with a degree in physical therapy and later obtained his M.S. in Health Care Administration. He was employed at Riverside Methodist Hospital for 40 years and retired in 2001 as the Administrative Director of Rehab Services. He was an active member of North Broadway United Methodist Church. He was a 32nd degree member of Scottish Rite Masons and served as an Aladdin Shrine Clown and member of the board of the Aladdin Shriners Hospital Association for Children. For 40 years he dressed as Santa and visited the newborns in the maternity ward at Riverside. He loved to make people laugh (mostly himself). He is survived by his children Timothy (Janice), Thomas and Tammi and grandsons Joseph and Jacob. A public visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 5th, 2020 from 4PM until 7PM at the Schoedinger Worthington Funeral Home, 6699 North High Street, Worthington OH, 43085.
