

Donna Ann (Kohler) Manning to be with her savior Sunday January 8 2017 at 80 years 9 months and 25 days . Born March 14, 1936, to Orville and Eva (Cohan) Koehler in Gove City Ohio. She had one older brother, Arno, a twin sister, Cynthia and two younger brothers Rick and John. Growing up Donna was always interested in artistic pursuits, winning several prizes for projects in 4H. She was a majorette at Grove City High School where she also graduated. Donna continued as a majorette at Ohio State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts. She worked as a graphic artist for North American, The Grove City Record and The Messenger. Donna also spent many years creating works of art with pastels. She displayed her work in a local bank and at Arts in the Alley. Growing up she attended St John’s Lutheran Church in Grove City and accepted the Lord as her personal Savior around the time of her confirmation. She was introduced to her husband, Robert Manning, by her brother-in-law Dane. From that time on neither dated any one else. They were married at her parent’s home on April 9, 1960. They adopted thee children Alisa, Steven and Mark. She and Bob were among 5 families to found Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, was a member of Highland Baptist Church for 28 years and Fellowship Baptist Church for 14 years. Donna taught in the children’s ministry for over 50 years. Family was also very important to Donna who spent much of her life making holidays, birthdays and reunions special occasions. She lived in Grove City Ohio within 5 miles of her birthplace for 80 years. This past spring they moved to Roanoke VA to live near her daughter and son–in-law and had been attending New Hope Baptist Church.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents Orville and Eva Koehler, brothers Arno and John Koehler, sister Cynthia Gutheil and great-granddaughter Justin Manning. She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert, of Roanoke VA, brother Rick Koehler (Pat) of Myrtle Beach, SC, sister-in-laws Marilyn, of Grove City, OH and Susan of Orient, OH, daughter Lisa Robinson-Turner (Ken), of Roanoke VA, sons Steve Manning of Anchorage, AK and Mark Manning (Jeanette) of Roanoke, TX, grandchildren Matthew (Ashley) Manning Benjamin (Cyndi) Wallace, Joseph Wallace, Timothy (Tianna) Wallace, Corey (Autumn) Sheets, Jacob Manning, Nick Manning, Marissa Manning and Kendra Turner as well as 13 great grandchildren.
In Virginia visitation will be Tuesday January 10 2-4 pm and 6-7 pm with funeral service to begin 7pm at New Hope Baptist Church, Roanoke, Pastor David McNeil officiating. Arrangements handled by Oakey’s Vinton Chapel.
In Ohio, visitation will be Wednesday January 11 from 7-9pm and funeral service Thursday January 12 1pm at Schoedinger Funeral Home, Grove City, graveside service to follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, Pastor Tony Liuzzo officiating. Arrangements by Schoedinger.
