Doris E. Held

Doris E. (Sheppard) Held, 95, of Columbus, Ohio went to be with the Lord on July 1, 2012. Doris joins her husband of 50 years, Oliver, her daughter, Carolyn, and grandson, Alan, as they watch over their family each and every day. As an only child, Doris longed for a large family. While she retired from the City of Columbus, Department of Health, her true life’s work was that of mother, teacher, encourager and cheerleader to her family. Hers and Oliver’s lasting legacy can be seen every day in the lives of their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Doris was the loving mother to Don (Jan) of Cape Coral, Florida; Jerry (Brenda) of Galloway, Ohio; Bob of St. Petersburg, Florida; and Betty (Jerry) Jaynes of Columbus, Ohio. She was the cherished grandmother (Nana) to Denny, Rick, Ron, Kaleb, Dathan Held and Matthew Jaynes. She will also be missed by 10 great grandchildren. The family welcomes you to share your special memories of this remarkable woman from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 W. Broad St. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 7, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Obetz Cemetery.
