Doug was the best dad and man he knew how to be, and a loving son and brother. He was devoted to his family and passionate about his dogs. Doug graduated from The Ohio State University, where he received a Bachelors Degree in Finance. He was an avid fan of the Steelers and the Buckeyes. He loved spending every free moment on his back patio listening to Halestorm and enjoying a cocktail or two.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen "Honey" Bartley Barnes; brother, Charles "Chip" Calvin Barnes; his dogs, Lady, Grace and Boone; paternal grandparents, Charles Hicks Barnes and Erma Saylor Barnes; and maternal grandparents, Burnett Graham Bartley Sr. and Helen McKenney Bartley.
Doug is survived by his four children, Melissa Barnes, Crystal Cook (Matthew) Weber, Elizabeth "Lizzi" (Emily) Ross, and Andrew Barnes; father, Wallace Ray Barnes; sister, Elizabeth "Bebe" Barnes; grandson, Brenden Cook; best half, Kelley Nichols; dogs, Gunner, Creed, Haley and Chase; niece, Sarah (Jeffrey) Manning; nephew, Trent (Liz) Ecklar; great nephew and nieces; and many colleagues and friends.
A private family service will be held at Chautauqua Lake, New York at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Doug would appreciate donations to the Franklin County Dog Shelter.
The family hopes that God is in a receiving mood.
