Edgar Rogers Gassin

Dr. Edgar R. Gassin, age 98, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016. Edgar was born in Brooklyn, New York and primarily grew up in Long Island before moving to a family home in Belmar, New Jersey. He attended DePauw University and graduated from The Ohio State University Dental School. Following college, Edgar proudly served his country as a Major in the U.S. Army Dental Corps during WWII. He was a battalion dental surgeon in General Patton's 4th Armored Division where he earned several decorations and medals. Edgar's career in dentistry spanned more than 50 years in Columbus. He retired in October 1992. He was a member of the American Dental Association and both the Ohio and Columbus Dental Societies. He was Past President of the Columbus Aqua Ski Club, member of the Columbus Dental Veterans Group, the Columbus Rock and Mineral Club, and the Columbus Maennerchor. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucille Gassin, daughter Carolyn Gassin, parents, Edgar and Eleanor Gassin, and sister, Doris Kiesling. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Gregory (Joyce) Gassin, Gary (Barb) Gassin, Renee (Kenneth) Beavers, and Lisa (Bruce) Triplehorn; grandchildren, Jennifer Flanagan, Brian (Erin) Gassin, Kenneth (Bekah) Gassin, Josiah (Mindy) Triplehorn, Daniel (Lorena) Triplehorn, Maria Triplehorn, Jonathan Triplehorn, and Brett (Kathryn) Sorrells; great grandchildren, Jacob and Paxton Flanagan, Madison Strane, Cami Gassin, and Cedar and Buck Sorrells; special friend Lorraine Batton and other friends and staff at Brookdale Trillium Crossing. Family will receive friends from 4-7 P.M. Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., where funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Thursday, June 23, 2016.
