Edie I. Powell

Edie I. Powell, age 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6th, 2024. Edie was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, on October 21st, 1943 to Chapel and Alice (Mullens) Cooley. To Edie, family was the most important thing. Together, she and her husband, Tim, ran J and J Carryout for many years. After retiring from MCL, she spent most days caring for her grandchildren. She always still managed to find the time to go bowling, of course. Edie loved playing cards with her grandchildren and great-children, especially euchre. She also enjoyed taking her daughter Terri (window) shopping. Edie was a bright and loving person, she was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She will be missed greatly by all of those who got the chance to know her.

Edie is survived by her daughters, Terri (David) Fairchild, Donna Phillips; daughter-in-law, Candida Powell; her grandchildren Amber, Joey, Donnie, Jon, Toni, Hayley and Alyssa; great-grandchildren, Antonio, Ethan, Evan, Katie, Adam, Grant, and Ava; and her siblings, Carol, Jeff, and Frank.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Tim Powell; her son, Timmy Powell; son-in-law, Mark Phillips; grandson, Nick Mogavero; and siblings, Anna Liu, Norma Cunningham, and Donny Cooley.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 16th from 5-8:00pm at Schoedinger East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where the funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at 1:00pm. Interment to follow services at Glen Rest Memorial Estate.
