Edith B. "Edee" Johnston

Edith B. Johnston passed from this life on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in Columbus, OH. She was born February 18, 1949 in Delaware, OH to William M and Edith L Aleshire Mooney. Edee grew up in Delaware and graduated from Rutherford B Hayes High School. She moved to Columbus to attend the Ohio State University.

Edee was married to her partner in life, Harold E Johnston Jr on June 1, 1975 in Columbus, OH. Edee worked for Motorists Insurance for 35 years. She completed an associate degree in computer science while working in the IT department. After retirement, she completed the Bachelor of Technical and Applied Sciences degree through Ohio University. Edee was an avid reader and loved watching Jeopardy. She was also a world-famous cook and took amazing care of her family. She was a proud grandma and tried to help with her five grandchildren whenever she could, whether it was driving them to practice, watching them in Irish dance competitions, soccer, football games or cross country meets. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Harold; daughter, Kate; son, Nicholas (Ryan); grandchildren, Hunter Chapin, Allison Chapin, Liam Johnston, and twins Elizabeth (Libby) and Gavin Johnston; sister, Eloda Walsworth; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in passing by her mother and father, her mother-in-law and father-in-law (Harold E and Eva Johnston Sr), her brother Dave and his wife, Sue Mooney; brother, Mike Mooney sister Sharon Ruth (Dave) Burton; brother-in-law David Johnston and his wife Debbie; brothers, Carl and James Burns. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 from 4-7 pm at Advantage Funeral Home and Cremation Services by Schoedinger Hilltop, 3030 W. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204 where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim Lee officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to any blessing box, food pantry or Life Care Alliance Meals on Wheels in her memory.
