Edith was born in Westbend, Kentucky on May 9th, 1931 to Elizabeth “Lizzie” & Charles Snowden. She grew up in Powell County, Kentucky with her siblings: Albert, Woodrow, Roscoe, Emma, and Ruth before moving to Cincinnati as a young woman.
Edith was the beloved mother to Stacy Whiteside (Melton) & son-in-law Brian Whiteside. She cherished being “Nana” to Colby, Caden, and Mackenzie Whiteside.
She spent over 20 years working in food service for the Finneytown school district in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was a favorite of the lunch ladies both with the students she served & the staff. She was known for dressing up for every school occasion or holiday, and always looked out for students in need. She loved all things Cincinnati including Skyline Chili & LaRosa’s pizza. She was a diehard Cincinnati Reds & Bengals fan, rarely missing a game. She also loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and was frequently seen in OSU gear.
More than anything, “Nana” loved her grandchildren. She regularly attended school events, dance recitals, soccer/baseball/football/volleyball/softball games; and loved to spoil her 3 grandchildren any way she could. She would proudly tell all who would listen all about them.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Whiteside, son-in-law Brian Whiteside, grandchildren Colby, Caden, & Mackenzie,& much-loved dogs Sam & Luna.
While Edith’s family grieves her loss, they are choosing to remember her in a way that honors her spirit. Her family invites friends to join them in a Celebration of Life gathering on Sunday, October 10th at 1pm at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington. In Edith’s honor, please wear your favorite Buckeye, Reds, or Bengals wear to celebrate her zealous love of sports.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff of ECHO Hospice who took amazing care of Edith and the entire family. Additional thanks to the staff at the Inn at Olentangy Trail and SourcePoint of Delaware County.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the ECHO hospice can be made in Edith’s name.
