Edna "Eloise" Nutt Turner passed away peacefully on March 30, 2016 at the age of 93 with her two beloved sons by her side. She was born in Beaver, Ohio on September 13, 1922 to Howard A. Nutt and Dora Brown Nutt. She attended grade school in Mt Sterling and West Jefferson, Grove City High School for her freshman and sophomore years before going home to Beaver High School where she graduated in 1942. She then moved to Columbus to live with her sister Eleanor and started work at the Columbus Bolt Works. In Columbus, she met Orvil (Bud) Turner with whom she enjoyed over 48 wonderful years of marriage commencing in 1946 at her church in Beaver. They settled in Columbus and had two sons, James and Michael. She retired from American Education Publication (Weekly Reader) after working more than 25 years on billing of school boards. She enjoyed traveling in the US, including Hawaii, and in many European countries. She was an avid gardener (known for her green thumb) and a bird watcher who loved the "red birds" that visited her yard. She loved working on complicated jigsaw puzzles with help from her family.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, her two brothers (Arthur Leroy and Howard Avery), and her husband. She is survived by her sisters Eleanor (Albert) Smith and Loraine Dawson; sister-in-law Bureda Nutt; sons James (Karen) Turner and Michael (Christine) Turner; grandsons Jim Turner and Eric (Christy) Turner; granddaughters Cara Turner and Megan (Brent) Whittaker; great-grandchildren Brandy (Ben) Reinhoudt, Cory (Lynn) Back, and Chelsea Back; and close friend and companion Kathy Evans. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
Her family wishes to thank the staff and therapists who work at Scioto Community for the care and assistance they provided for nearly three months. They also wish to thank the dedicated and knowledgeable staff at Mount Carmel West hospital with special thanks to the physicians, nurses, and aides on Eight North for their exceptionable efforts in caring for Eloise.
