

Edward Earl Donaldson, M.D., age 95, formerly of Columbus, OH died Tuesday night at Alliance Community Hospital, Alliance OH. Ed was born on April 29, 1919 to James and Marie (Erdman) Donaldson in Pittsburgh, PA. Ed graduated from Oliver High School, Pittsburgh, PA (1937); Marietta College, Marietta, OH, (1942) where he met and later married Bea Wetherholt in 1946; and, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine (1951) in Cleveland, OH.
He worked in pediatrics for over forty-five years on the eastside of Columbus in private practice, and at St. Ann's and Nationwide Children's Hospitals. He was an emeritus member of the Central Ohio Pediatrics Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the American Medical Association; and, professor through The Ohio State University, College of Medicine.
Ed was a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in North Africa, Italy, and Southern France in World War II.
He is survived by his loving daughter and son-in-law Mary Beth (Dr. Paul W.) Buck, daughter-in-law, Marlene M. Donaldson, and grandchildren: Dr. Kelly (Alex) Vaughan, Matthew (Michael Carrow) and Andrew Buck; Alexander, James, Michelle, and Andrea Donaldson; sister, Ruth Marshall; and, many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
In addition to his parents, Ed is preceded in death by his loving wife of fifty-five years, Bea (Wetherholt) Donaldson (2001); son, Scott Edward Donaldson (2005); and brothers, Cliff (Ann), Jim (Gail) and Harry (Terry).
Friends may call Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2-6 p.m., at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH (at Beecher Rd) where a Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.; interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 5600 E. Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213.
