

Edward "Ted" Walker, 95, of Friendship Village of Columbus, passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015. Ted, who was born in Elco Pa. was a World War II veteran who served 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. Ted loved to skate and met his wife Irene at a roller skating rink in New Philadelphia, Ohio. They were married during the war at the Will Roger's Air Force Base in Oklahoma City in 1942. Ted was a wonderful father and husband who loved travel, ballroom dancing, and woodworking. He was a master wood craftsman and we cherish the toys and furniture he created. We will miss his quick wit and unwavering devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Irene Cattani Walker; three children, Gerald "Jerry" Walker of Tampa, April Walker Stull (husband Gary) of Dublin, Jane Walker Newgaard (husband Larry) of Dublin; three grandchildren, Andrew Stull of Dublin, Phillip Walker of Seattle, Julie ("Katie") Walker Johnson of Fort Collins; two great grandchildren Kayla and Cayden Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father Isiah Walker, mother Anna Atwood Walker, sisters Elizabeth Walker, Hilda Melvin, Alice "Lil" Phillips, Mary Gibbons, and Ada Martinelli and by brothers Joseph, George, William, Albert, Harry, and Arthur. He was a longtime member of the Linworth Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held 3:00pm Saturday April 9th at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL where friends may visit 1/2 hour before service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ted's memory can be made to the Friendship Village of Columbus Benevolence Fund (5800 Forest Hills Blvd, 43231) or to the Linworth Methodist Church (7070 Bent Tree Blvd, 43235).
