Edwin Herbert Season III, born on September 25, 1945, in Palm Springs, California, peacefully passed away on February 20, 2024. Son of Edwin H. Season Jr. and Hazel (Hobson) Season, Edwin's life was a testament to love, kindness, and unwavering dedication to those he held dear.
On February 22, 1975, Ed entered into a lifelong partnership with his wife, Linda Ann Pettersen. Together, they shared countless joys, weathered storms, and built a legacy of love and devotion. Edwin's role as a devoted husband, nurturing dad, proud grandfather, and loyal friend enriched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts.
A scholar and healer at heart, Ed's academic pursuits led him to Denison University and later the Ohio State University Medical School. With a passion for orthopedic surgery, he embarked on a career that spanned over four decades, bringing comfort and healing to countless people.
In addition to his medical practice, Ed served with honor in the US Army Reserve, attaining the rank of Major. His commitment to service extended beyond the operating room, as he devoted his time to serving on medical disability committees for the Ohio School Employees Retirement System and the Ohio State Teacher Retirement System.
Ed's life was a mosaic of passions and pursuits. From excelling as both a golfer and wrestler in his youth to continuing his wrestling journey into college, his competitive drive was matched only by his thirst for knowledge, evident in his voracious reading habits. Each year, he eagerly anticipated the exhilaration of annual ski trips out West, yet it was the tranquil summers spent on Chautauqua Lake, surrounded by cherished friends and family, that held the deepest place in his heart. These moments of connection and joy wove together the fabric of his life.
Ed is preceded in death by his mother Hazel Season, father Edwin Season, brother James Season, and nephew James Penney. Ed's legacy will be carried on by his wife Linda Season of Columbus, Ohio, his daughter Kimberly (Robert) McMillan of Dallas, TX, his son Christopher Season of Columbus, OH, his adored grandchildren Elena, Beau, and Wells, his brother Willie (Cherie) Season of Birmingham, AL, and his sister Margie Season of Longmont, CO. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched with his warmth and generosity.
As we mourn the loss of Ed, may we find solace in the memories which will forever dwell in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 at Schoedinger Northwest, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. It will begin at 11:00 AM followed by a reception to visit with friends and family from 12:00PM - 2:00PM.
