Eileen Theresa Ritzert Malysa, 52, of Pickerington, died suddenly at 9:01p.m. on June 26, 2010 as a result of a car accident in Columbus, Ohio. Eileen was born on August 20, 1957 to Clarence and Shirley Ritzert in Youngstown, Ohio. Eileen lived many years in Lowellville prior to moving to Pickerington where she made her home. Eileen graduated from Lowellville High School in 1975 and was the Class Salutatorian. Eileen attended Youngstown State University and received her RN degree in 1980. She was employed over 30 years as a nurse at Southside Hospital, several dental offices, St. Mary’s, and most recently with Emeritus at Chestnut Hill. Eileen was a longtime volunteer for TWIIGS at Children’s Hospital and was very involved at her church with the food pantries, clothing and blood drives and bereavement committees. She was a good friend to many, kind and compassionate, and liked to use her storytelling abilities to lighten one’s burdens. She was thoughtful and sent many cards using just the right wording that would show her true feelings to the receiver. Eileen was a dedicated and committed nurse who went beyond her oath of duty; especially with her residents who she cared for deeply ensuring they were comfortable, and never alone during their last hours on Earth. She was an aunt, and second mother to her nieces and nephews and praised all their accomplishments, always trying to attend as many events as possible. Eileen loved reading, especially mysteries; attending plays and shopping. Eileen enjoyed traveling, especially to historical sites. Eileen collected lighthouses and Christmas decorations and loved to give gifts to others to show her appreciation for any kindness shown to her. Deep was her faith in God, finding hope even during some dark and difficult times. She was a great lover of beagles for their sense of beauty and adventure. Eileen was a wonderful friend, sister, daughter, aunt and mentor. Though Eileen may have died suddenly without her Earthly family, we find comfort knowing her mother and father enveloped her in their loving arms to welcome her home. Eileen will be sadly missed by her family: sisters, Catherine (Richard) Grizinski of Youngstown, Debra Ritzert of Canfield, Rose (Thomas) Pitzulo of Poland, Christine (John) Bielski of Youngstown, Sharon (Randy) Weems of Poland; brother, Alan (Janie) of Blacklick; niece, Jessica Grizinski; nephews, Marc Weems, Jeremy Pitzulo, David and Matthew (Molly) Weems; great-nieces, Hannah and Angelina Weems; aunts; uncles; numerous cousins and special friends, Cheryl Mamula, Joyce Adams, Madelyn Fanning, Sue Bundza and Ruth Williamson. She was preceded in death by her parents; nephew, Joseph and her beloved pets, Snoopy and Barney. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00PM Friday, July 2, 2010 at the SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL 5360 E. To my friends- I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one, I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done. I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done. Visit www.schoedinger.com to share a favorite memory of Eileen.
