Penny was born to Tom and Helen Carroll on August 8, 1943 in Lakewood, Ohio. She graduated from St. Stephens High School in 1961. She married her former husband, Ralph Bohlmann, in 1963 and they had three children: Patti, Tom, & Shelly.
Penny set the example of a strong work ethic as she held a job and completed a college degree from Cuyahoga Community College while raising her children. She retired in 2009 from Lamson & Session. Post retirement, she enjoyed working with the residents of O’Neill Healthcare in North Olmsted. Her favorite memories of O’Neill included learning about the life stories of the residents and reflecting on every person’s unique life experiences.
Penny earned her nickname from her father because of her copper red hair. She was proud of her Irish heritage and celebrated it with her enjoyment of Irish music, jewelry, coffee and an epic trip to Ireland with her life-long friends.
Her sister, Pat, was her best friend. Penny and Pat spent countless weekends at Put In Bay where they enjoyed the lake view, playing cards and dominos, and watching the sunset.
Penny has six grandchildren - Alexis, Abigail, Harrison, Madison, Chandler and Elaina. She was very excited to be blessed with a great granddaughter, Mila, in July 2022. She had a unique relationship with each of her grandchildren and was proud of their individuality and accomplishments.
Her family will remember her for her sense of humor, kindness and for her culinary love of salt and bacon.
Penny is predeceased by her son Thomas Bohlmann and her sister Patricia Baker. She is survived by daughters Patricia Jackson (Brent) and Rachelle Johnson (Jay); Grandchildren Alexis, Madison, and Chandler Johnson; Abigail and Harrison Jackson; Elaina Purcell and great granddaughter Mila Montgomery.
