Elizabeth Jane Lyons

Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Lyons, 88, of Columbus, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016. She was born April 19, 1928 in Columbus to the late John William and Esther (Morrell) Beany. She was born of missionary parents instilling a love for the mission field of which Betty was a faithful prayer warrior for many decades. She was a graduate of East High School and Nyack Bible Institution receiving a degree in early education. She retired from the Advertising Checking Bureau. Following retirement she worked at Sunshine Nursery School. She happily served First Alliance Church all her life where she was a Deaconess and worked in the kitchen. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching her grandchildren. The love of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband William Thomas Lyons, brothers John and Robert Beany, sister Mary Hosch. Betty is survived by sons William (Cheryl) Lyons and John Mark (Rena) Lyons, grandchildren Heidi (Dave) Marteney, Ashley (Mark) Lovat, Amy (Grant) Margraff, Tommy and Josh Lyons, great grandchildren Nathaniel and Natalie. Family will receive friends Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd. where a funeral service will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10 AM.
