

Elva Maxine Johnson, age 95, currently of Blacklick, Ohio, previously of Bradleyville, Michigan and Ellenton, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011. Elva was born September 6, 1916 in Gilford, Michigan, youngest of 13 children born to the late William and Emma Howell. Elva is also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Johnson, 12 siblings, and son-in-law, Jean M. Hoff. As a young girl, Elva grew up living above the family’s general store in Gilford, Michigan. On June 8, 1935, Elva married her sweetheart, Alfred Johnson, and became his favorite farm hand. During WWII, she worked as a welder to help with the war efforts. Elva always enjoyed the simpler things in life. She and her husband both worked very hard on the farm throughout the years, and Elva also worked hard taking care of her family. She was a devoted wife and mother and grandmother. In her early years, Elva enjoyed cooking, traveling, and crocheting. She will be missed by her children, Onalee Johnson Hoff and Rick (Char) Johnson; grandchildren, Carl (Patricia) and Dean Hoff and Laura and Rachel Johnson; great grandsons, Scott and Andrew Hoff; and many other extended family members and dear friends.
