Frances M. Powell

Frances M. Powell, age 71 of New Albany, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Fran was born and raised in Columbus, daughter of the late Louise Schmieder Hampton and Lynn Hampton. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Lynn and sister, Florence. Fran graduated from Watterson High School, Class of 1958 and following went on to graduate from Mt. Carmel College of Nursing. Fran worked as a RN spanning over 40 years and retired from Mt. Carmel East Hospital. She was a strong woman who was a great teacher and listener, and enjoyed operating the family Christmas tree farm, Black Forest Pines, but most of all, Fran loved nothing more than time spent with her family. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 47 years, William Powell; children, Christina (Michael) Rak, Matthew (Cindy) Powell, and Mark Powell; grandchildren, Rachel, Marissa, Avery, and Sarah; sisters, Vivian and Betty; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 5-8 P.M. Saturday, March 31, 2012 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthur G.
