

Frank L. Kuhlmann, age 88, passed away at the Canal Winchester Assisted Living and Rehabilitation facility on July 13, 2020. Born in Lincoln NE on March 21, 1932, Frank was the son of Frank H. Kuhlmann and Marie (Hoeger) Kuhlmann. He was a 1954 graduate of Capital University in Columbus OH with a degree in music. He earned his Masters degree in pipe organ at the University of Michigan.
Frank's life revolved around music. He taught elementary school music for many years in the Detroit MI area. But his love was the pipe organ. He enjoyed a lifetime serving several churches and cathedrals as organist and choir director, first in New Orleans LA, later in the Detroit area and lastly in Durham NH. He was a member of the American Guild of Organists, traveling each summer to see classic pipe organs around the country. He also enjoyed many trips to England and Europe visiting cathedrals and hearing the music he loved.
Frank is survived by his sister Janet Waterman of Kennebunkport ME, niece Cynthia Graf (Kevin) of Lyme NH, nephew Stephen Waterman of Sunapee NH, and nephew Matthew Waterman (Stacey) of W. Groton MA and their families. He is pre-deceased by his parents Frank and Marie Kuhlmann and brother-in-law Charles Waterman.
Due to pandemic issues a family memorial service will be held in Maine at a later date, with burial to take place in Mendota, IL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations may be made to Mees Hall Pipe Organ Fund, Advancement Services, Capital University, 1 College and Main, Columbus, OH. 43209.
