Frank (Chris) Veno, age 61, passed away at home on Wednesday, February 10, 2016. He was born on May 24, 1954 in Zanesville, OH to Frank and Betty (Wilson) Veno. Chris joined the US Navy upon leaving Groveport-Madison High School in 1972, spending 8 years stationed in Norfolk, VA. He returned to Columbus, OH where he began his career in fabricating, welding, and engineering with companies including Rockwell International, Allied Fabricating and Welding, and Alpha One where he was CEO for 10 years. He started his own company, Blue Streak Heat Induction Services in 2011. His plan for retirement to Key West, FL was forestalled by his ongoing, chronic back and spine issues that incapacitated him for many years. Despite his condition, Chris remained an animated, outgoing personality: funny, kind-hearted, generous, and well-intentioned. He dearly loved his children and doted on his grandchildren. Chris was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Emil Chirila; brother, Bernard Grotegeer and half-brother, Phillip Veno. He is survived by sons, Adam (Melissa) Veno and Aaron Veno; daughters, Nicole Wright, Melissa Graf, and Christina (Thomas) Draudt; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Steven, Arianna, Dillon, Gavin, Danny, Brittany, and Andrew; sister, Antionette Veno (Kevin) Golden; half-brothers and sisters, Danny Veno, Joe Veno, Mary Jane Veno, and Catherine Smith; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Heartfelt thanks are given to Cheri Davis for her care of Chris over the past year. Family will receive friends 5:30-7:30 pm Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, OH 43232 followed by a funeral service at 7:30 pm. Fr. Kevin Lutz officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Chris's memory to a charity of choice.
