Fred Thomas McAninch

Fred Thomas McAninch, age 82, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2021. Fred was born in Plainfield, IN, on October 2, 1938, to the late Eunice (Cooperider) and Ralph P. McAninch. Fred is preceded in death by sister Regina Agan (Plainfield, IN and Mesa, AZ). He is survived by wife, Janeen McAninch (Murlin); son Jason McAninch; daughter Joanna (Trent) Smith; grandchildren Eryn, Connor, Marley and step-grandson, Quinn; and sister Cheryll Howell (Mooresville, IN).

Fred graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business and minor in Psychology. He worked for the State of Ohio in Rehabilitation and Corrections for more than 30 years and volunteered for many local organizations, including the Grove City Kids Association and the Grove City High School Athletic Boosters. Fred was an avid fan of sports car racing and was a long-time member of the Sports Car Club of America, spending many weekends at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. A consummate prankster, Fred was a delight to his neighbors and friends. If he liked you, he would make you his "Grandpa Mac snack" of peanut butter and honey on crackers.

At Fred's request, no services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST 1051 E. Johnstown Rd, Gahanna, OH 43230. Donations may be made in Fred's name to your local animal shelter.
