

Freddie Lee Griffin passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on December 22, 2020 at Doctors West Hospital with his devoted wife, Audrey Griffin, daughter-in-law, Nancy Echols and sister, Rennae Hall at his side. Freddie Lee Griffin was born on March 9, 1949 in Cleveland, Ohio he was raised in Madison, Georgia by Hattie Mae Griffin. He graduated from Madison High School. He was a member of Springfield Baptist Church where he sang in the choir on Sundays. Freddie also sang with the traveling performing group named The Shag Boys on the weekends. He also enjoyed watching westerns on TV and dancing. Freddie left Madison and moved to Conyers, GA. He worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Atlanta, GA. He later moved to Cleveland and worked at Ishoemen for 30 years a steel factory. After that he moved to Columbus, Ohio where he worked at Buckeye Steel until the building burned down. Freddie continued to work at Mt. Carmel Hospital in the Surgical Dept. doing overtime in the kitchen where he met his wife, Audrey Griffin. The last 10 1/2 years of career was at the Columbus Public Schools. Freddie leaves behind a legacy of four sons, Keith (Wanda) King, Scotty Sims, Frederick (Nancy) Echols and Darnell (Laydia) Echols; brothers, Bernard, and Reggie Tellis; sisters, Denise Tellis and Rennae Hall; many other relatives and friends. Everybody loved "Papa Freddie". Per his wished there will be no service and a private cremation will take place. There will be no repass due to Covid 19 as we want everyone to stay safe.
