Garnet S. Bowman

A Celebration of life service for Garnet S. Bowman 52, of Newark, will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Criss -Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville St., Newark, OH, with Pastor Jeff Houghton officiating.

Garnet passed away at the Selma Markowitz Center on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 after battling cancer for over 11 months. Garnet was born on November 20, 1956 in Newark, to Meredith Laughrey and the late Joanne Elizabeth (Hall) Laughrey.

Garnets family and dog were the most important in her life. She was a 16 year employee of the State of Ohio Department of Transportation in Jacksontown, Ohio as a Building Maintenance Superintendent. In addition to her father survivors include her husband of 32 years, Joseph K. Bowman; daughters, Stacy (Trent) Snow of Newark, Kelly (Rob) Smeigh of Heath; grandson, Jacob Christian Snow of Newark; brothers, Jim (Evelyn) Laughrey of Newark, and Tim (Karen) Laughrey of Salem, OH; Step mother- in- law, Margie Bowman and her family; loving dog, Jake; special cousin, Trina Annarino; nephew, Cory Laughrey; close friends, Hubra Lee Royster, Willa Mae Render, Alice Bonner, Lynn Byrd, Mary Fratangelo, Liz Smith, Brenda Scott, Margaret Kirby, Peggy Roelle, Deb Richardson, and many other loving relatives, friends and co-workers.

In addition to her her mother, Garnet is also preceded in death by her mother and father-in-law William and Carol (Binger) Bowman, and nephew, Donald Laughrey.
