

Genevieve (Ginette) Marguerite Smith age 89, a resident of Powell died Friday, February 5, 2010. She was born February 2, 1921 in Luineville, France where she attended elementary, high school and the Culinary Arts College where she received her degree and also taught. She met her husband, Hadley when he was serving in France as a French Interpreter for the U.S. Army and came to the United States on May 2, 1947. They were married on May 8, 1947 and they resided at The Ohio School for the Deaf where her husband, Hadley was the resident supervisor and editor of The Ohio Chronicle and headed up the Astronomy Club.They were very endeared by the deaf community and she was ‘Mom’ to many deaf students. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, reading, bicycling and traveling. She is survived by godchildren; Eric Kanoski, Ginette (David) Feasel, Debbie (Spencer) Wong, great godchildren, Derek and Ryan Feasel, Erica and Jessica Kanoski, cousins; Merrille, Chris and Sue Shop, sister, Paulette La Pierre and brother, Jean Gaspard extended family; John Kanoski and Barbara Potter. Friends will be received Friday from 6-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St. (1/2 mile south of I-270).
