George Evans

George E. Evans, Jr., age 79, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Friday, August 12, 2011. He was born January 5, 1932 in Cleveland, OH to the late George E. Evans, Sr. and Marie (Hurley) Evans. His formative years were spent in Painesville, OH, where he graduated from high school and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He attended The Ohio State University and enjoyed a successful career with Rockwell International. George had a passion for golf and was the dedicated secretary of the Rockwell golf league for many years. He always looked forward to golf trips with his buddies. George is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Caroline Evans and was the proud father of: George (Chris), Joseph (Aimee), Jack (Barbara), Michael (Leisha), Anthony (Jennifer), Kathleen and Greg Hunt. His legacy includes grandchildren, Karen, Sharon, Joseph, Jr., Katelyn, Luke, Abraham, Mary, Jack, Jr., Matthew, Andrew, Bethany, Amanda, Kirsten, Michael, Joshua, Rebecca, Kara, Emily, Zachary, Natalie, Nathan and Nina; great-grandchildren, John, Ivy, Joey, Aurelia, Lacey, Victoria, Jack, Andrew, Max, Maddox and Zevi; great-great-grandson, Jeremy. He is also survived by his brother, Jim (Janet) Evans and sister, Patty (Bill) Tecil. Family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. James the Less, (George’s parish of over 45 years), 1652 Oakland Park Ave., Columbus, OH 43224 at 10:30 a.m, Monday, August 15, 2011.; Fr.
