In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Guadalupe G. Gallegos, and beloved nephews; Salvador Martinez Jr., and Rigo Nino Jr. Growing up George played basketball, and was an All-Star hooper at his South Side High School. George met his soul mate, Guadalupe, at the age of 15, and the two became inseparable from there on. After high school George went on to become an aircraft mechanic, then later on in life he went on to become a security guard, which he retired from. He always took pride in his work ethic and strived to always be a hard worker and provider for his family. He was a selfless man who would give you his last dollar. George was a member at Holy Spirit Church where he made lifelong friendships. He coached basketball and softball at Holy Spirit School and even won championships. He valued family more than anything in the world and spent his days tending to his children and grandchildren. George loved sports, especially basketball. He also enjoyed shooting pool, bowling, listening to music, and dancing to his cumbias. To know George was to know strength, resilience, wisdom, courage, grace, compassion, humility, loyalty, and unconditional love. He was nothing short of a Good Samaritan, an inspiration for everyone to always do the right thing and be your very best. His smile could light up the darkest room and his comedic Spirit could make you laugh for an entire lifetime. He will be deeply missed, but his Spirit will live on forever through all the lives he touched. Entrusted arrangements to Schoedinger East Funeral Home. Family will be having a memorial mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 E Broad St, on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at 10AM. Please share a memory or send condolences to George's family.
