George Franklin Guffey

Born on December 5th, 1938, in Van Lear, KY, he was son of the late Robert Lee and Pearl Justice Guffey. He was a retired army veteran and after his military service, he moved to Columbus and started his plumbing career by working at J.A. Myers Company for many years and becoming its vice president. He then started the successful Advanced Plumbing Company and worked there until his retirement. In addition, he managed 31 rental properties in the Columbus area.

In 1966, George married his wife, Anne. Over the course of their marriage, they proceeded to travel to over 50 countries and go on 23 cruises. They retired to live in Upper Arlington, after living in Apple Valley, Naples FL and Muirfield.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anne Cairelli of McConnelsville; One daughter, Susan Mesoros (Michael); Two sons Cleve Guffey (Kim) and Brian Guffey (Karl); Four grandchildren Starla Rito, Shelley McDaniel (Jordon), Kurt Guffey (Jessica) and Colleen Guffey; Six great grandchildren; One brother Charlie (Linda); Brother-in-law Terry Skinner and Sister-in-law Karen Guffey, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers; James, Bill, Alonzo, Clifford, Virgil, Roy, and Larry Guffey; Three sisters Imogene Guffey, Margie Skinner, and Elizabeth (Lou) Burns; and One daughter-in-law Lori Guffey.

There will only be a graveside service starting at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W Broad St, Galloway, OH. Following the graveside service all are welcome to gather for a meal at nearby Ann and Toni’s Restaurant, 211 E Main St. West Jefferson, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a charitable donation be given to the James Cancer Foundation.
