

Dr. George M. Jameson, 102, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 16, 2015. He was born February 20, 1912, in a small town in Western Turkey to Greek parents, Urania and Menelaos Meimaroglou (changed to Jameson when they came to the U.S. in 1914) and was only three years old when he arrived in Rochester, New York. His parents then moved to Akron, Ohio, where he spent his boyhood and early college years.
A graduate of Kent State University and The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, George practiced dentistry in Columbus, Ohio for over 38 years. An accomplished horseman, amateur magician, community theater actor and president of many organizations--including Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, Shrine, Aladdin Temple, and Players Club-- George was especially proud to be a 33rd Degree Mason and a 67 year Master Mason. He also dabbled in ham radio, directed theatrical productions and enjoyed sailing.
George was married for over 67 years to Mary Chakeres Jameson who predeceased him in 2008. His daughter, Renee Jameson Mooney, sadly passed away in 2013. He lived in Columbus his entire adult life and last resided at The Forum, an assisted living facility in Upper Arlington. He was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his son Jamie G. Jameson and daughter-in-law, Trulee, of Sarasota, Florida; two grandchildren, Michelle Brown and Nicole Copeland of Charlotte, North Carolina; a step-granddaughter and six great grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, January 20, 2015 from 5-7 p.m. at SCHOEDIGNER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus. A Trisagion service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a Masonic service at 6:45 by the Community Lodge #684. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 555 N. High St., Columbus, Fr. Demetrios Gardikes, officiating. Interment Union Cemetery.
