

George Albert Norris, age 84, of Circleville, passed away Monday, January 24, 2011. He was born in Kanawha County, West Virginia on June 8, 1926 to the late George W. and Edith (Thompson) Norris. George was a Radioman Second Class for the United States Navy serving in WWII. He was a Supervisor at Columbus Coated Fabrics where he retired after 38 years of service. George was a past Commander, 2nd Vice, Adjutant, Assistant Chaplain, E Board President, State Sgt. of Arms, and belonged to the 40&8 with American Legion Post 134. He was a past secretary of The Soldier Monumental Association. George has a brick in the Walk of Remembrance located at Memorial Hall on Main Street in Circleville. He was also a member of Pickaway Lodge #23 F & A M. George enjoyed taking vacations to Chesapeake Bay where he would teach his grandchildren to catch and prepare blue crabs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosalind Lyne Webb; brothers, Robert Lee Norris and Charles Raymond Norris; and sister, Evelyn Kuhn. Survivors include his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 63 years, Henrietta “Jake” (Kinder) Norris; son, Gregory A. Norris; grandchildren, Shawn G. Norris, Kerry L. (Shawn) Keels, Meagan M. Webb, Morgan L. (Dustin) Daugherty, and Ronald T. (Cindy) Webb; great grandchildren, Jasmine Jones, and Jayden and Trenton Webb; and many nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday, January 28, 2011 from 5:00PM-8:00PM at the DEFENBAUGH-WISE-SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME 151 E. Main St. Circleville where the funeral service will be held Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 10:30AM. Chaplain Jim Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Cemetery, Circleville, Ohio.
