George "Buddy" Joseph Schiller III, 74, of Columbus, passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 20th, 2022. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 16, 1947, to George Joseph Schiller, II and Evelyn Josephine (Kraus) Schiller. Beloved father to Brittani Schiller of Westerville, Kristi Schiller (Becky Frankenhoff) of Cincinnati and granddaughter Evie Schiller. Also survived by his brother Keith (Kathie) Schiller and countless friends that he called family.
Buddy attended Morningside College in Iowa, on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a Degree in Engineering. Buddy went on to have a very successful management career and retired from AT&T/Lucent Technologies/Celestica, Inc. Buddy was a diehard Ohio State Buckeye fan, so much so that he engraved in his daughters that they were never to own a blue car and to live by the quote, "I break for all animals, except for wolverines." Buddy loved the Buckeyes so much that for 20 years he was proud to serve as Front Line Ambassador as a Redcoat for The Ohio State University Buckeyes and their fans. His devotion, kindness, smile and laugh will never be forgotten. He will always be remembered for his love of Bud Light, the number 6, and his "traitor list" for OSU v. TTUN games, wherein he would keep a roster folded up in his hat, with the names highlighted of any Ohio based players, playing as a rival. Buddy was a multi-sport athlete, a member of many different leagues, including men's professional softball, a multiple-time member of The 300 Club in bowling and his greatest joy was coaching/attending all of his daughter's sporting events. He was his daughter's biggest fans, as they were his. He never missed a single game, rain or shine of Brittani and Kristi's sports, and was beyond thrilled to continue his dedication to "his girls" when his granddaughter Evie took over the reins, becoming an outstanding volleyball player.
Buddy will be greatly missed by family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10am-12pm on Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Schoedinger Northeast Funeral Home, 1051 E. Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio. A celebration of life will be held for all family and friends at Joe's Pub & Grill, 4949 E, Dublin Granville Road, Westerville, Ohio at 1pm.
