

Gerald Bryan Colbert, 85, of Columbus, died Thursday, August 4, 2011. He was born July 25, 1926 in Columbus to the late Donald and Mildred (Bryan) Colbert. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in WWII. He was a graduate of North High School, Columbus and the Chouinard Art Institute, CA. He was the Art Director for Federal Glass Co. and retired as Commercial Artist for the State of Ohio. He was a member of Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, Columbus Caligraphy Club and played euchre at Dublin Senior Center. He liked to travel, loved boating and the water. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 2008. He is survived by his children Ted (Alice) Colbert and Diane (Earl) Opperman, Anchorage, Alaska, grandchildren Melanie and Paul Colbert, Jennifer and Steven Opperman, great grandson Micah Colbert. Family will receive friends Monday from 4-8 PM at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor David To officiating. Entombment will follow in Kingwood Memorial Park.
