Gerald Robert "Bub" Jenkins

Specialist Gerald Robert “Bub” Jenkins, 19, of Circleville, died while serving his country, October 20, 2010, in Afghanistan. Gerald was born November 23, 1990 in Lancaster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty and Robert Keaton and Gerald and Geraldine Conkel. Gerald will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his father, Roger Jenkins; mother, Carla Haddox McNamara; brother, Shane Jenkins; sister, Maranda Wooten; paternal grandparents, Ray and Nancy Spurlock; special aunts, Cheryl Ferguson and Dee Dee Haddox; special uncle, Roger Haddox; and special friends, Cody Donaldson, Richard Shepherd and Ricky Hollaway.

Gerald loved football and was a huge fan of the OSU Buckeyes and the Dallas Cowboys. Madden Football was his favorite game to play on his Xbox 360. He enjoyed fishing and fished mainly at pay lakes where he could catch some good sized fish. Gerald loved his mom’s cooking and his dad’s Italian sausage. Monster Drink was his favorite beverage and he enjoyed listening to a variety of music including 70’s and 80’s rock and country. Gerald was a kind, caring soul who would do anything for anybody. He was laid back and would think about things before reacting. He was proud to serve his country and enlisted in the Army in October of 2008.

The family would like to thank cousins Sherry Ferguson and Joni Fowler for their part in honoring Gerald at the Saturday night Pumpkin Show parade; and would also like to thank Sgt. Darrell Tiller for his help during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 135 E. Mound Street, Circleville, with Pastor Gerhard Kraus and Pastor Lonnie Gamble officiating. Burial with military honors will take place in Forest Cemetery. The family will receive friends from noon until 6:00 p.m. Saturday, October 30th at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, 151 E. Main St., Circleville and from 12:30pm until the time of service at the church on Sunday.
