Lit a candle in memory of Geraldine A. Jackson

Noone quite like my Great Grandma Jackson! To have known her is to know exactly what a christian should be. Godly, loving, character, integrity and giving defined her in my eyes. I have so many memories of Grandma Jackson that will forever live on. One of my favorites were the stories on cassette that she would record. No voice could ever exist quite like hers and it was absolutely made for telling stories. I remember many times when Anthony and I were younger, we would stay over and Grandma Jackson would read from the Uncle Remus stories. Easter at grandmas was always wonderful, that drive east was one I loved and the time once there was always cherished. No matter what was going on in life, no matter what trouble life had presented...you could leave it at the door upon arriving at Grandma Jackson's and leave feeling refreshed (similar to what it feels like after spending a Sunday at worship service). Sharing my birthday party with her growing up was always a treat. Such a wonderful, godly woman. One memory, which is actually a collection of memories that occurred twice a year, was my absolute favorite...birthday and Christmas cards. Forget what Hallmark had to say, I wanted to get to the red writing. You could hear her voice speaking what had been written. You could feel the warmth of love as you read it. I would always save my cards for that night after everyone was gone so I could have her thoughts all to myself and then I would thank the Lord for giving us someone so special. I thank him now, for taking her home to the mansion he has prepared for her. With great love...Derek, Meghan, Aidan and Jaxon.

My grandma was the most wonderful grandma a girl could ask for. I will always have so many memories of her and with her. She did so much for us girls when we were little. She took us on the bus downtown to Lazarus to shop and we always stopped and had lunch in their restaurant. She made barbie clothes for our dolls and she also built furniture for us to play with. She was soooo generous w/her time and had the most patience of anyone I've ever known. She was also an amazing grandma to my two boys, Anthony & Daniel. We are all celebrating her life and know she is in Heaven. Dominic, Sheri, Anthony & Daniel

To Mrs. Jackson's family:  a few years ago I briefly shared the room with Geraldine while I was recovering from a knee injury.  She would sing and talk at night, and I loved listening to her mentally walk through her memories.  Her voice pitch would change depending on who she was talking with (in her mind) and my heart nearly broke when one night this young girl's voice emerged as she talked with her mama.   Another time she apparently went after some hussy who was after her man.  I say this not to ridicule Geraldine, but to offer a glimpse to you of how active her mind and memories were during the stillness of the nights when we shared a room.  Although her body failed her, her mind relived her life experiences, and I felt blessed to be able to hear them.  I am so very sorry for your loss, Carol Bridges, Reynoldsburg OH
