Gertrude Arlene Alexander

Gertrude Arlene Alexander, age 75, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. She was born December 13, 1949 in Millersport, Ohio, daughter of the late Harold and Gertrude (Emmert) McCafferty. Arlene worked at Columbus Public Schools and Red Lobster restaurant for many years. She enjoyed building things around the house and taking care of her dogs and chickens. She loved family vacations, especially the trips to Myrtle Beach. In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her son, Joseph Hurst; sisters, Wanda Tuggle and Mary Margaret “Mickey” Parker; and sister-in-law, Sandy McCafferty. Arlene is survived by her husband of over 40 years, David Alexander; children, Debbie (Mohamed) Jalloh, Chris Hurst and Jennifer Hurst (Tom); 8 beloved grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Butch (Sammy), Geri (Bobby), Lorretta, Martin and Patricia and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends 10-11:00 am Monday, February 24, 2025 at SCHOEDINGER EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5360 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, OH 43232, where funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment to follow Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
