

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 47 years, James Steckel and sister Mary Ann Muzzo. She is survived by her children Scott (Sheila) Steckel and Kathie (Greg) Mirenda; and grandchildren, Chris, Erin and AJ.
Gloria grew up in Chicago and attended Northwestern University. She moved to the central Ohio area after graduating from college and worked at Ohio State University in the Athletic Department. She joined her husband in the family business, Torco Termite and Pest Control Company. She later became the owner of Words Per Minute secretarial services, retiring in 2009. Gloria and her husband were longtime members of the Dublin Community church. Gloria was a participant in the Cum Christo Community and a proud member of HBs. Her grandchildren and dog, Sasha have been the light of her life. Gloria’s family would like to extend thanks to Senior Independence for the care shown to their mother.
Family will receive friends Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd., Columbus (due to construction, take Riverside Dr. to Zollinger or Fishinger to NW Blvd.). The funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Dublin Community Church, 81 West Bridge St., Dublin, Rev. Robert Tussing, officiating. Private interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital, 660 Ackerman Rd., P.O. Box 183112, Columbus, OH 43218.
