I feel so very sorry for Lisa and her family during this difficult time. Gregg was a very special friend to me and I am proud to call him my friend. I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
 spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
 for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
 I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
 of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

 Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone."

 Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
 hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
 And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.

 And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
 there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
 ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"

I thoroughly enjoyed talking with Gregg when I needed his help with some pricing concerns. Gregg always made me feel welcome, he always treated me the same and he was just a great guy to talk to. We would have discussions about our favorite college football teams which would be between his Buckeyes and my beloved Badgers. Gregg had a great sense of humor and and you couldn't help but feel good when you were in his presence. I'm so glad I had a chance to speak with Gregg last week. He would make me smile when he would close our phone conversations with "You take care partner".

Gregg you are deeply missed and thank you for all your help. To Lisa and Gregg's family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I am praying for you all that God's Love and Mercy will comfort you at this time.

I have worked at Kimball for a little over a year. Though I only had the privilege of being around Gregg for that short amount of time, I was fortunate to have shared a few good laughs with him - many times at the expense of our respective football teams' dismal prospects (in my case the Bills). Late Friday afternoon, Gregg came to my desk with a question regarding transportation for a golf outing on Saturday with some of the Kimball brass. I got the answer for him in short order and went to his office with the info jotted down. He thanked me for the quick response and I looked at him and said "I believe in the three customer philosophy, Mr. Johnston". This garnered one of his identifiable laughs and he said (to quote) "you might be full of s**t, but at least it sounds good." On my way out of his office I reminded him to make sure he told my manager of my stellar service in advance of my next review which got another laugh and his assurance that he would put in a good word for me. I am thankful that I got to have that memory with him as the day was winding down on Friday, and appreciate how kind and welcoming he was to me during the interactions we had. My thoughts and prayers are with Gregg's family and friends.

I worked with Gregg for approximately 25 years. My heart was saddened to hear of his passing. Gregg was not only a great coworker he was my friend. He was always quick with a smile and his laugh was so infectious.  My thoughts and prayers to the family. Lisa take solace in the memories.

Gregg was one of the true Bestest friends I had at Kimball-Midwest.  Early on in my career at Kimball, Gregg and I made some customer deals that we both swore not to speak about them until the statutes of limitations past.  Nothing illegal just not quite company policy.  I am here to tell you we made Kimball money and made customers happy, we were an awesome force back in the day.  Well buddy, looks like it's just me to stand up for our shannigans and it makes me proud to do so.  We had fun!!!!!
Kimball-Midwest won't be the same without you, my bestest buddy.  You leave us too soon but I will never forget you.  Heaven got the best end of this deal.  Not ashame to say when I heard of Gregg's passing, I cried for my buddy.  Prayers and blessed thoughts to Lisa and the Johnston family.

Gregg was a great friend that I've known for more than 25 years. A true sportsman we talked about sports went to games over the years. He was in our group of softball players and we played many games together in the leagues around Columbus. I will miss you ole buddy.    Dave Welsh

My first job out of college was with KM.  Gregg was a great boss and mentor and became a great friend.   Gregg joined me and several of my college buddies in a fantasy football league many years ago.  He’d never met any of them, but fit in immediately.  When we had an opening that same year in our golf league, we immediately asked Gregg to join us.  He was such a fun guy, so easy to like.  Two years ago, Gregg couldn’t make our draft party.  We joined hands before the start and prayed for his recovery.  We were all so happy to see him back last year, cherishing life, as he always did.  We’ll join hands in prayer again in a couple weeks.  We’ll thank God for the times we had with Gregg, and we’ll pray for Lisa and those closest to him, in the hopes that the amazing memories they’ve created together will help ease some of the pain during this time.

Gregg interviewed and hired me into Kimball Midwest.  He was my manager for 4 1/2 years and taught me a lot about our business.  I remember many times standing in a line of other internal employees outside of his office waiting for a break in calls so that I could ask him a question.  He normally had multiple calls going at once, one active and more than one on hold.  No matter what he was doing he would stop to help a sales person, even if he was mid-sentence with someone internally.  It made it hard to find time to train with him but he was a shining example of our two customer philosophy. 

When I heard he was gone I couldn't believe it.  Personally and professionally I can't imagine Kimball without him.  I don't know what we'll do without his wisdom and humor.

My heart goes out to Lisa and the rest of the family.

I met Gregg my first day at B-W.  We shared 4 years of great times, in a great setting, with a lot of great friends.  Freshmen dorm, 2 years of DEFWU, and a partially serious senior year.  Gregg taught me many things, among them; drive fast and take chances, get the absolute most out of every day, just be yourself because you can’t please everyone all of the time (FU if you can’t take a joke). Gregg was an amazing man for so many reasons.   He had a great laugh, was always positive, was a great coworker, and was tremendously loyal.   However the most wonderful thing about Gregg to me was that he loved my friend Lisa with his whole heart.

I didn't interact with him often, but whenever I would call him for help with something that I was working on with a customer or a new opportunity, he was always so cheerful and so upbeat and so willing to help me in whatever way he could.  Even though I knew he was incredibly busy and being pulled in a million different directions, he always made me feel important and NEVER an intrusion on his day.  God bless him.  He touched so many lives in so many positive ways (even if these were very little ways, like in my case).  No doubt he's basking in the Lord's light as I type these words.

I've known Gregg for 24 years and in that time I've never met anyone more willing to go out of their way to help others. I could always count on an honest answer from Gregg and he never let his own best interests override his sense of what he felt was the right thing to do. 

Gregg is already sorely missed, not just by his immediate family, but by the so many, many people in his extended "family" that always knew they could count on him. He cannot be replaced and he will never be forgotten.

I worked with Gregg for nearly 20 years. I have never met a man that was so dedicated to his work, family and friends. I will miss our weekly discussions about all the Cleveland teams. I played golf with Gregg a week ago and will always remember him from that day.

Hello Gregg this is Lou Bell ( Linda David ) I just to tell you that I am on my way from Florida to see my great friend who I had the great pleasure to know for 30 years. I'm going to miss you calling me Lou Bell when ever I came to visit at kimball Midwest . Lisa, you know Greggs arms are around you each & everyday. His love for you is like no other , for I could see how the both of you became as one. I remember the first time Kent told me call Greg he can get it done. I met Greg later playing golf and enjoyed every minute of the time on the course and at work. Kent was right he always got it done. We will miss him dearly. But what a great legacy.

Greg was there when ever I needed anything special.  He never failed to help me in any situation I found myself in.  He always had a "can do" attitude.  I will miss him.  May God be with his family and comfort them in their time of mourning, Amen.
