Mr Lietz, while on the Danville Police and Fire board showed what kind of a man he was. When he had to choose between the right thing to do and what he was being told to do, he made the hard choice.  Because of this his position was taken from him, but in doing so proved he was a man of strength and honor. I was very proud to have known him and am so sorry to hear of his passing. I guess for the last time I have to say thank you Mr Lietz.

The Vermilion County Democratic Party wishes to extend our condolences to Greg's family. Greg was greatly admired by members of our party. We appreciate all the years he was active and involved. We will miss his presence and the kindness he exhibited at the events he attended. We are sending a donation in his memory to the Kobacker House.

As a neighbor on Denvale, I appreciated how much Mr. Lietz seemed to enjoy walking with his dog Buddy. When Buddy first came to the Lietzes, I had the impression that Buddy was a bit of a challenge to his master. But Mr. Lietz prevailed, and they were quite a pair--often stopping to chat and comment on the weather and the flowers. Buddy especially seemed to enjoy the jacket that his master fastened on him for their cold-weather walks. The friendship of these two was a pleasure to see.

I knew Greg, mostly from Champaign Sr. High School.  I went out with him several times and worked on the Chronicle high school newspaper with him.  I loved Greg's sense of humor and just being around him.  He was a good friend to everyone on the paper.  I remember going to his family's home after several evenings out and after a school dance.
His brothers were great, especially Gary and his physician Dad helped save my father's life after he had a heart attack.  Much later I worked on two legal cases with Greg when I represented a defendant insurance company.  Such a pleasure working with him; he was truly a professional.   All my very best to Marie - I remember her as well - and his family.  I am truly sorry we have had to lose him but he lived a good life!

It is so sad that Greg didn't live to enjoy his retirement, after working past the age of 70.  We were both involved in Sunday School and VBS at Bethel. Greg was very dedicated to this ministry. He passed on much wisdom and humor to me over the years.  He was a fine man and I have many good memories of him.  My sincere condolences to Marie and his family.

I’m sad to learn of Greg’s passing. Our parents were friends. Both of our fathers were physicians in Champaign. Greg and iWere friends and even had a junior high date or two. My husband, Dave,  also e same high school. Unfortunately, like many high school friends, we lost touch after graduation even though his folks moved to the house across the street from my folks.

I’m sure given his family values that he practiced law with the highest integrity.

I worked with Greg a few years ago. So sorry to hear of his passing. He was a great person and great teacher.
