

Mr. Cooper passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Kindred of Newark. He was born February 5, 1917 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Delbert and Jessie (Calhoun) Cooper.
Mr. Cooper was a railroad engineer with B&O Railroad/Chessie System for 36 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed listening to country and gospel music, working on model railroads, gardening and Bingo. He was a kind and generous man and a loving husband and father.
He is survived by four children, Jeff Cooper of Newark, Joyce Kennedy of Indianapolis, Indiana, Janet (Darrell) Clark of Newark and Karen (Dean) Underwood of Reynoldsburg; nine grandchildren, Jason Arnett, Patrick Arnett, Jessie Cooper, Jerad Cooper, Jacob Cooper, Danielle Hurd, Lisa Elizondo, Jamie Woolard and Cory Underwood; sixteen great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Cleo (O’Dell) Cooper, whom he married on September 3, 1947 and who passed away on May 1, 2012; and by three brothers and one sister.
There will be no calling hours observed.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital.
