

Harvey R. Ruggles passed peacefully on April 26, 2013 at the age of 85.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marjorie and sons Rick and his wife Shelia, Bob and his wife Marcia and Brad all of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren Brandon and Alexis. Preceded in death by a son Douglas and granddaughter Alyssa.
Harvey was born in Newton, Massachusetts on June 21, 1927 to Cora W. and Clarence Victor Ruggles.
Harvey enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1945 at 17 years of age and served on a light cruiser in the Pacific until the end of World War II. Upon his discharge, he immediately entered Tuffs University in Boston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He worked 49 years in his chosen field as a licensed professional engineer and a licensed professional surveyor.
During that period, he devoted his last 30 years of this career to introduce then relatively new techniques of design and construction of post-tensioning for cast-in-place concrete structures. As a result of these efforts, his career resume' is a subject of biographical record in the 1992/1993 edition of Marquis' Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
Harvey is remembered as a quiet man with a ready smile who loved his wife and family with all his heart.
Visitation will be from 10 - 11 a.m. Friday with the service at 11 a.m. at Life in Christ Fellowship, West Jefferson, OH. Interment in Sunset Cemetery, Columbus with Military Honors.
