

Harvey George "Tappy" Yelich, age 83, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at home. He was born in Chicago Illinois on December 16, 1932, Harvey was married to the love of his life, Mildred Rodich Yelich for 59 ½ years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Harvey worked for ADL in Columbus, Ohio, J.I.T. in Hilliard, Ohio, Airco in Clinton, Indiana, and Anaconda Aluminum in Terre Haute, Indiana. While living in Indiana he was a member of the Terre Haute Jaycees, the Oberlander German Club, Sacred Heart Church in Clinton, and Sacred Heart Mens Club; he was a board member of United Cerebral Palsy of Wabash Valley, Honorary Girl Scout-Covered Bridge Council, Little League President in Clinton, and a Junior Achievement Advisor. In Ohio, Harvey was a member of VFW Post 4631 in Hilliard, St. Margaret of Cortona Church, a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus-Council 12939, Sons of Italy Lodge 2599; he chaired a very successful blood drive at St. Margaret, was a volunteer tutor at Westgate Elementary School. In 2013 Harvey was selected to travel to Washington DC with the Columbus Ohio Honor Flight. He was awarded the State of Indiana Library Association Volunteer of the Year, Knights of Columbus Council 12939 Family of the Year, Wabash Valley Family of the Year, and the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Parents Steve and Augusta Yelich, and brother Jim Yelich preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, Tappy is survived by his children, Barbara (Russ) Camfield, Karen (Joe) Boarini, Diane Lease (Francois) Billard, Tracy (Monty) Whitaker, and Steve (Tracie) Yelich; grandchildren, Alyson (Ryan) Evans, Cameron Camfield, Anna Marie Boarini, Caroline Boarini, Marissa Lease, Elizabeth Lease, Andrew Billard, Nicholas Whitaker, Anne Marie Whitaker, Sara Yelich, and Adam Yelich; great grandchildren, Brendan, Abagayle, and Natali Evans; brothers, Richard (Peg) Yelich and Tom Yelich; and many nieces, nephews, and friends that loved and respected him. Family will receive friends on Monday, August 8, 2016 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at the SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL, 3030 West Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:00AM at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, 1600 N. Hague Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43204. Fr. Jeff Rimelspach and Fr. Glenn O'Connor, concelebrants. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio. Contributions in Harvey's memory may be made to Columbus Ohio Honor Flight, Westgate Elementary School, Columbus, OH and St. Margaret of Cortona "Souper Bowl".
