

Herbert W. Gaines, Jr. 75, of Baltimore, formerly of Circleville, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Fairfield Medical Center, Lancaster. He was born November 14, 1937 in Columbus, the son of the late Herbert W. and Edith Frances (Cupp) Gaines, Sr. Herb was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Georgie Ann (Rife) Gaines; daughter, Pamela Kaye (Gaines) Rodgers; step-son, Jonathan Scott Gaines; brother, Donald R. Gaines, Sr.; and sister, Cheryl A. Glisipie.
Herb was retired from Consolidated Freightways. He loved cars, showing his vehicles at car shows and keeping them clean and shiny. He was a member of the National Street Rod Assoc., Weekend Cruisers, Central Ohio Rod Assoc. and GoodGuys Rod and Custom Assoc. Herb’s hobbies also included bowling, yardwork and traveling the United States with his wife, Kaye. He was a sweet, quiet man who would do anything for anyone. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be deeply missed.
Herb is survived by his wife, Kaye E. (Cox) Gaines; son, Herbert W. Gaines III; step-sons, Donald Ray Gaines, Jr. and John Robert Craggs; grandchildren, Michael (Stacy) Gaines, Sherrisha (Justin) Tilton, Shannon (Brice) Sparks, Joey (Whitney) and Christopher Rodgers; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Beverly (Lynn) Tracy and Karen (Paul) Evans; brother, Timothy (Kathy) Gaines; brother-in-law, Glenn Glisipie; and best friend, Tony House.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, 1950 Pleasantville Rd. (Rt. 188), Lancaster with Dr. John Beckett officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Central Ohio Diabetes Assoc. 1100 Dennison Ave. Columbus, OH 43201 or American Heart Association 5455 N. High St. Columbus, OH 43214.
