Herman Joseph Brickel

Herman J. Brickel, 72, passed away suddenly on June 25, 2012, at Mount Carmel West Hospital. Preceded in death by parents Phyllis and Charles Brickel and brother, Larry Brickel. Survived by loving wife Linda; daughter, Tracy (Chad) Allen, Pataskala, Ohio; grandchildren, C.J., Peyton and Wyatt Allen; nephew, Dennis (Vickie) Brickel, San Diego, CA; niece, Lori (Larry) McCoy, Peoria, AZ; and other loving family members. Herman loved to reminisce about his childhood growing up on the family’s farm in Jamestown, Ohio. He was a graduate of Wilmington College and retired in 1999 after a successful thirty-five year career as a racing secretary. Herman also operated the Buckeye Standardbred Yearling Sale for over twenty years. He was a member of Jamestown United Methodist Church and faithfully attended Grove City United Methodist. Herman had such a generous, benevolent heart and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He was famous for his fudge which he enjoyed sharing with family and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, June 30, 2012, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER GROVE CITY CHAPEL, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, Ohio. A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at the Grove City United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grove City Food Pantry, 2710 Columbus St., Grove City, Ohio 43123. Private interment at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
