Hiroshi was the beloved son of Shizue and Isao Fukuda and is survived by his wife, Melinda Fukuda; his son, Caesar (Emily) Fukuda; his sister, Etsuko (Yutaka) Ikeda (née Fukuda); and his nephews, Takumi and Taiki Ikeda.
Hiroshi pursued higher education at Hosei University in Japan, where he distinguished himself both academically and athletically. A passionate and accomplished skier, he competed on the university ski team and later served as a ski patroller.
He dedicated more than four decades of his professional life to Nissin Travel, where he led the North America organization with vision, drive for results, and a commitment to building meaningful relationships. Through his work, Hiroshi forged and strengthened cross cultural connections, helping people and organizations bridge distances—both geographic and cultural.
A tireless advocate for the Japanese community in Ohio, Hiroshi played an essential role in strengthening ties between Japan and the United States. He served as President of the Central Ohio Japanese Association of Commerce (COJAC) and as a Board Director for the Japan America Society of Central Ohio (JASCO).
Hiroshi embraced life with energy and an adventurous spirit. A devoted Harley-Davidson motorcyclist, he completed multiple journeys across the United States on his cherished orange Harley motorcycle. Skiing remained a lifelong passion and a source of great joy and lasting memories throughout his life.
Above all, Hiroshi will be remembered not only for what he accomplished, but for who he was. His legacy of compassion, leadership, and cultural connection will continue to endure.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The James Cancer Hospital and to Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio for their exceptional care and support.
Funeral services will be held on February 8th at 11:00am at Schoedinger Northwest 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus, OH 43221 with visitation to follow from 12- 2pm.
Memorial contributions can be made to Ohio's Hospice of Central Ohio or Central Ohio Japanese Association of Commerce (COJAC).
