

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Igor Ilyin 5/12/2025, a brilliant mind, devoted family man, and quiet pillar of strength. Survived by his beloved wife, Yelena Ilyin, daughters Vika Ilyin, Zaryana Bezu, Anastasiya Demenko, son-in-law Vladimir Demenko, brother Alexandre Ilyin, grandchildren, Masha Meyta, Nikolai Demenko, Michael Demenko, Polina Bezuhlyy, Katia Bezuhlyy, Spohia Demenko, Elizaveta Zavadska and Ivan Demenko.
Born in Kyiv, Ukraine, on November 20, 1951, Igor grew up in a military family, moving frequently and embracing the discipline and resilience that shaped his character. A scholar of physics, he graduated from Odessa’s Physical-Technical Institute and devoted his expertise to advancing technology, spending much of his career at the Scientific-Production Association “Saturn” in Kyiv. Saturn is where he met Yelena, beginning a love story that endured for 30 years.
In 1998, Igor embarked on a new chapter in the United States, where he shared his expertise as an electrical engineer at Ohio State University for over 20 years. His meticulous nature and deep intellect made him an invaluable colleague, while his unwavering support and kindness made him an irreplaceable presence in the lives of his loved ones.
Beyond his work, Igor found joy in the finer details of life. A passionate collector of coins and films, he treasured history and storytelling. He was graceful on the dance floor, having honed his skills in ballroom dancing, a quiet talent that reflected his depth and elegance. And in his peaceful moments, he enjoyed red wine, savoring the richness of tradition and relaxation.
Igor was a man of precision, wisdom, and generosity, always ready to help his family in any way he could. His legacy lives on in the love and guidance he gave, the knowledge he shared, and the quiet strength he embodied.
He will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
