Irene Mary Kovalchik

Irene Mary Kovalchik, 89, of Westerville, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at St. Ann's Hospital. Irene was born June 23, 1926 in Bakerton, PA the daughter of Elmer and Katherine Bakish Gaydosh. She married Robert John Kovalchik on October 28, 1947 in Youngstown, Ohio. She is survived by her children, Donald P. Kovalchik (Terri) of London, Ohio, Robert J. Kovalchik, Jr. (Lisa) of Columbus, Ohio and Carol M. Ralston (Mark) of Powell, Ohio, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and her sisters, Dee Sturtz of Boardman, Ohio and Marlene Shipley, of Struthers, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her beloved husband of 60 years, Bob. Irene and Bob were members of St. Matthias Parish since 1959. They lived a full life of love and laughter with a focus on service to others. Irene never met a stranger and everyone was touched by her deep faith and loving nature. Our lives were blessed by her love, guidance, and prayers. Irene and Bob were inseparable and we take comfort in knowing they are together once again. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road, Columbus, Ohio with Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30 p.m. at St. Matthias Church, 1582 Ferris Rd., Columbus, Ohio; interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery; Fr.
