Jack L. Betts

Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Berger Hospital. He

was born in Williamsport, the son of the late

Rodney and Lucille (Stevenson) Betts. He was

also preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Wright)

Betts; grandchildren, Amanda and Dustin

Dollison; sisters, Patty Brayshaw, Betty

Shonkwiler and Virginia Lozier; brother,

Bob Betts; son-in-law, Bill Coleman, Jr.

Jack was a 1950 graduate of Williamsport

High School where he was known as “Fireball”,

a nickname which stuck throughout the years.

He was a SGT. in the Army during the Korean War

and retired from Dupont after 36 years service.

Jack was a member of Williamsport UMC,

AMVETS Post 2256 and was a 50 year member of

Heber Masonic Lodge #501. He was proud

to be a 24 gallon Blood Donor. Jack was kind,

hardworking, loving, humorous and would

do anything for anybody. He enjoyed wood carving,

golfing, playing horseshoes, softball and bowling;

also hunting, old cars, going to Texas and had coached his son’s

mosquito and little league teams when he was young.

Jack also enjoyed doing things for his family and

friends and was good about taking the mail to the ladies on Allen Street.

Jack also made his own Christmas gifts of fruitcake

and homemade wine and traveled far and wide to

deliver them to his many friends.

Jack is survived by his son, Douglas (Shanna) Betts; daughters,

Charmaine Coleman, Kelly Betts and Sabrina (Mark) Dollison;

grandchildren, Casey (Rebekah) Betts, Chloe Betts, Shawn

(Becca) Coleman, Nathan (Brandie) Coleman and Tasha (Bill)

Rogers; great-grandchildren, Paige, Morgan, Reese, Olivia,

Domonic, Gracie and Harvey; and his special canine companions,

Jane and Judee.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM, Thursday,

June 30, 2016 at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral

Home with Pastor Doug Dowson. Burial will be in

Springlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 PM

Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
