Jim served in the U.S.A.F. during the Vietnam War. He gained employment at IBM in Cleveland and has been with the company for 42 years, currently working in Columbus. At IBM, Jim has been a “rock” to his associates, was looked to for direction, and a great mentor to many.
Above all, Jim loved his family. He spent countless hours telling associates about his family and long conversations with his nephew, Michael. Jim was a caring man, always put others before himself, and was the strong, silent type. He had a great sense of humor, loved his sister’s cooking, and enjoyed playing computer solitaire and watching House.
Preceded in death by his wife of 27 years and love of his life, Catherine in 2006; son, Adam in 2005; parents, John and Jessie Boncela; sister, Joann Luzniak; and brother Joseph Boncela. Jim will be missed by his loving daughter, Megan and her fiancé Kyle McElroy; brother-in-law, Melvin Luzniak; sisters-in-law, Rita Boncela, Pat Harris, and Brigette Rafalski; nieces and nephews; and many friends and co-workers.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 1, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., Worthington (Just south of I-270), where the funeral service will be held Friday at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jim’s memory to the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, 300 W. 10th Ave., Ste 519, Columbus, OH 43210. To share memories of Jim, visit www.schoedinger.com.
